New Directions – Mums & Bubs
The New Directions Mums & Bubs is a program to engage Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander people & the wider community of Circular Head, with a focus on parents & their children being engage & active in supporting Maternal & Child Health.

New Directions provide practical support/ advice on parenting, nutrition, education on breastfeeding, starting solids, importance of immunisation, weighing & measuring babies & health issues that may arise with your baby. New Directions also provide home visits for extra support & transport for families who need to access medical appointments, educational workshops or CHAC events.
New Directions Activities–
Ladies Lounge runs every second Monday at various venues & is based on creating a social network for Mums to get support from peers. We do this by providing varied educational, social & craft activities that the mums can do together while the children play or participate in other activities.
New Parents Group runs 3 times a year for six weeks at a time. The group meets once a week at the Smithton District Hospital & Mums with new babies can meet others to create friendships while learning about SIDS, Infant/ Child First Aid, Baby Massage, Pelvic Floor, Child Development/ Milestones, Breastfeeding & Introduction to Solids.
